On August 1, 1940 the Mobile and Ohio Railroad was ordered by the court to sell from the steps of the Mobile County Courthouse the west halves of Lot No. 225 and Lot No. 226.

Alvin Stoneking was a Tuscaloosa railroad contractor who in 1897 worked on the MOBILE AND OHIO RAILROAD cut that connected the rail yard to the trestle. He used mules to pull his shovels. 

On September 24, 1897, Stoneking murdered another M&O railroad contractor, Gus Lallande, in front of the White Elephant Saloon in downtown Tuscaloosa.
