 FORKLAND RIOT OF 1874

Williamson Glover testified before Congress concerning the causes of the Forkland Riot of 1874 beginning with events of Monday, September 14, 1874.

 Most of the violent events occurred at the Rowe Place on the Greene County side of the Tombigbee below the Bird Place. This plantation was near the intersection of the roads leading to the Arcola Ferry and the Demopolis Ferry.
