 Speaking of "what the world would label southern." How 'bout WHAT THE WORLD WOULD LABEL PINEY WOODS WIREGRASS:

Bailey uses the word "cush" to name what we call "chicken & dressing with giblet gravy". In 1933, Dan Baker (Jeff Bannon) proposed a DOTHAN CUSH FESTIVAL in the "Buck Doe" column of the Advertiser. "Buck Doe" was the pen name for Advertiser columnist and politician, Atticus Mullin. Harper Lee used Mullin's first name for her main character in TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD.
