THOMPSON'S MILL
Not sure what the Y.W.A. was. May have been the Y.W.C.A. (Young Women's Christian Association). from the August 8, 1933 BIRMINGHAM NEWSfrom the December 2, 1875 TUSCALOOSA GAZETTE
from the November 18, 1875 Tuscaloosa Gazette: Thompson's Mill had TWO of the only four RADICAL VOTES in all of Tuscaloosa County during the new Constitution vote of 1875. (this was the takeover of the white Democrats from the former slaves, carpetbaggers & scalawags.
W.D. Seed spoke at Thompson's Mill. He was probably speaking on behalf of Brandon for Governor of Alabama. W.D. Seed's house is on the north side of the 1900 block of 7th Street, right behind the W.C. Jemison house. He was a big politician like Jemison but also a SUPER PROHIBITIONIST.
